A very characteristic, even unique, component of the Danish educational system are Folkehøjskoler (folk high schools), essentially boarding schools that offer informal and assessment-free personal enlightenment in an extremely inclusive, diverse, and fun setting, where the social aspect is just as important as the academic contents. Although we do not pretend to be a højskole, we do plan to adopt a couple of the main traits from this tradition for the 2018 Creating Knowledge conference, to ensure that we make the most of our beautiful and slightly remote conference settings and to make it a conference to remember. Not only because of a robust academic programme but also because of the social and engaging atmosphere.
To this effect, we are opting for an undercurrent theme of communality and fun, most notably as fill-in activities carefully massaged into the formal conference programme.
